Job Summary: We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Water Engineer to join our team at HR Genie.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement water infrastructure projects, including industrial, commercial, and construction monitoring duties.
  • Support the broader business, values, and vision of HR Genie.
  • Work in teams with Principle Engineers, Candidate Engineers, and Project Managers to attend tender briefings, provide inputs into tender documentation, and lead during tender processes.
  • Lead or manage the preparation of bids as required.
  • Comply with Company procedures and processes in terms of project registration and risk analysis, ensure auditable trail of actions during full life cycle of project delivery process, and comply with Health and Safety requirements in the workplace as well as on construction sites.
  • Ensure that project start-up processes are followed, and the project scoping is clear and approved.
  • Prepare designs and reports, either as Lead Designer or by assisting Lead Designers/PMs with estimates, and liaise with other professionals, both internally and externally.
  • Promote cost reduction and productivity-enhancing initiatives, and facilitate and assist with the tender and adjudication process leading up to contractor appointment and site handover.
  • Support the Engineer's Representative to monitor and manage construction activities, including attending site and inspection meetings, managing changes to the work scope, managing installation quality and compliance with specifications, and managing and witness testing and commissioning of works.
  • Liaise with other Professional and Discipline Engineers to ensure accurate and timely communications to ensure the best overall project delivery outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Hold a B.Eng. degree (a post-graduate qualification in water engineering will be an added advantage).
  • Professionally registered with ECSA or ICE for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Appreciation and enthusiasm for Bulk Water and Waste Water Engineering and its principles with an eagerness to grow into a knowledgeable Principle/Specialist to lead multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience in Water and Waste water Treatment would be preferable, and experience in Stormwater and open channel hydraulics would be an added advantage.
  • An aptitude for integration of multidisciplinary projects, have excellent communication and critical thinking skills, and be a person of integrity and subscribe to engineering ethics.
  • Ability to build and retain healthy relationships with others, and be able to identify, analyse and design solutions to engineering problems.
