Civil Engineer - Bridge Specialist

WSP in Africa is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our team as a Bridge Specialist. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a passion for bridge engineering and infrastructure projects.

About the Role

This role will focus on delivering high-quality bridge engineering services, working closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure successful project outcomes. As a Bridge Specialist, you will be responsible for managing bridge design and construction projects from concept to completion, ensuring they meet or exceed client expectations and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage bridge design and construction projects, including conceptualization, feasibility studies, detailed design, tendering, and construction phase services;
  • Provide expert technical advice to clients, contractors, and stakeholders on bridge engineering matters;
  • Coordinate with internal teams, such as geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution;
  • Analyze and interpret data from various sources, including site investigations, laboratory testing, and computational modeling, to inform engineering decisions;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies;
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) or equivalent;
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in bridge engineering, with a strong track record of delivering successful projects;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply technical expertise to complex problems;
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
