Senior Millwright Job Description

RPO Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Senior Millwright to join our electrical automation business in New Germany, Pinetown. As a Senior Millwright, you will be responsible for carrying out mechanical and electrical repairs from start to finish, handling breakdown situations, and working with urgency to resolve faults on equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the company in all technical aspects, ensuring the smooth operation of our electrical automation business.
  • Disassemble and assemble electrical motors, including AC permanent magnet and DC motors, to diagnose and repair faults.
  • Remove and replace bearings, inspect bearing housings for damage, and perform other mechanical work required on motors.
  • Conduct electrical windings analysis to diagnose faulty motor windings and implement repairs.
  • Complete training on encoder alignment technology and perform encoder diagnostics and testing.
  • Replace encoders, perform encoder alignments, and run testing of repaired motors on a VSD.
  • Run testing of repaired VSDs and perform site work to remove or install VSDs.
  • Log labor and parts onto the job management system and provide fault diagnosis feedback to management or sales teams.
Requirements:
  • Millwright qualification or electrical and mechanical trade certification.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical repairs, particularly with AC motors.
  • Advantageous experience with VSDs.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail skills.
  • Mature approach to resolving workshop-related issues.
  • Strong drive to work with urgency and under pressure.
