Job Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a Packaging Machinery Technician at NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED Isando, Coffee and Creamer. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high-speed packaging machinery and reporting directly to the Maintenance Foreman. Key Performance Areas include:
  1. Maintain machine availability for production to reach targets
  2. Carry out maintenance, repair, and fault-finding tasks
  3. Perform electrical and mechanical planned maintenance on machinery, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
  4. Install and repair all machinery, setting timing, cams, and limits as per manufacturers' specifications
  5. Investigate root causes of plant failures and support project implementation
  6. Communicate downtime data to the Engineering Foreman and ensure downtime targets are met

Work Environment
The Packaging Machinery Technician will work with VFFS packaging machinery, food processing equipment, conveyers, multi-head weighers, Bosch Flow and roll wrap machines, CAMA Case packing, Cermex, Cam, Klik-klock, robotic palletisers, and general factory equipment.

Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates should have:
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Millwright in high-speed packaging machines and plant equipment maintenance and repairs within a FMCG environment
  • Matric / Grade 12 Trade tested as a Millwright at an accredited training facility
  • Completed Mechanical / Electrical Engineering qualification or minimum N4 qualification
  • Ongoing knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Pneumatic and Electro-Pneumatic systems, PLC programming, and VSD set-up
  • Familiarity with QMS, HACCP, and GMPs is advantageous
