This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Civil Design Engineer to join our team in Johannesburg North. You will be responsible for designing and developing civil construction projects, including railway construction projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop civil construction project specifications and designs based on customer requirements and design standards.
  • Work closely with architects, contractors, and other construction professionals to validate design feasibility and ensure alignment with client project specifications.
  • Utilize CAD software and other engineering tools to refine construction project designs, including the creation of 3D models and animations using CAD, Civil 3D, and BIM software.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the viability of proposed designs and construction techniques.
  • Maintain comprehensive project and contract documentation, encompassing design reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance of construction projects with statutory and regulatory requirements, while upholding safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure timely and budget-conscious completion of construction projects, adhering to defined quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and cost savings, presenting recommendations to senior project management team members.
  • Conduct regular project team meetings, providing guidance and support to multi-disciplinary team members.
  • Maintain transparent communication with all project stakeholders, ensuring they are informed of project progress and any adjustments in project planning or milestones.

Requirements:

  • Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.
  • At least ten years' experience in civil infrastructure design and development.
  • Five of the ten years post professional registration (Pr Eng/ Pr Tech Eng) should be in planning, preparing/managing designs and delivery of civil infrastructure scope within multi-disciplinary projects including bulk earthworks, roads, drainage networks, including Construction Management experience.
  • BSc/BEng Degree or BTech (Civil).
