Main Responsibilities
  1. Reconcile general ledger accounts on a timely basis, with supporting documentation signed by preparers and the Financial Manager.
  2. Review all accounting journals processed by junior accountants, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  3. Maintain accurate inventory balances through regular stock counts and ensure discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  4. Monitor bank and petty cash reconciliations bi-weekly in South Africa and weekly in Africa, addressing any issues that arise.
  5. Ensure compliance with finance leases and accurately reconcile bank amortization schedules with debit orders.
Additional Duties
  1. Clear control and suspense accounts daily, resolving any discrepancies as soon as possible.
  2. Reconcile payroll-related costs with external reports and bank payments.
  3. Intercompany balances must be reconciled and discrepancies resolved quickly.
  4. Process depreciation according to accounting policy and maintain the wear and tear schedule and tax journal postings.
Requirements
  • A degree in accounting or related field is required, with 5+ years of experience in accounting.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with Sage/MOVE/Booking System and be proficient in SAGE/MOVE/Booking System/all other applicable systems.
