Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Logistics Engineer to join our team at DSV. As a Logistics Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, costing, and implementing small Warehouse solutions. You will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing WH operations, initiating and implementing continuous improvement projects, and driving change management and training to stabilize projects and ensure adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support business in the scoping, designing, costing, implementing, and maintaining small Warehouses across SSA.
  • Evaluate and analyze data, processes, and material flow related to existing operations to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Implement initiatives and monitor quantitative benefits of changes.
  • Develop business cases for financial investments, including ROI calculations, quantified value, productivity improvements, etc.
  • Document, monitor, and communicate project timelines, milestones, and objectives.
  • Follow disciplined change management process to ensure implemented changes are sustainable.
  • Problem-solving facilitation and training where required.
  • Work closely with Project & Implementation, Solutions & Pricing & Applications Engineering teams to ensure standardization of best practices in DSV.
  • Train on Lean, Six Sigma, and Change Management.
  • Implement automation and mechanization initiatives.
  • Support major changes within the warehouse regarding processes, MHE, WMS, automation, and mechanization.
  • Warehouse/X-Dock Design and Costing;
  • Solution Requirements gathering;
  • Layout and Flow design and implementation;
  • Good people skills required;
  • WMS / ERP Systems skill and experience: > 1 year;
  • Stakeholder Engagement: > 1 year;
  • Highly adaptable to change;
  • Sound knowledge of engineering economics and fundamental accounting principles;
  • LEAN and/or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt;
  • Data Cleaning & Analytics;
  • Experience in the logistics industry advantageous;
  • Lean / CIP methodology;
  • Introduction to Change Management.

Requirements

  • Industrial Engineering Experience: > 1 1/2 years;
  • Assist in project management, contributing to project setup and managing processes from initiation to completion: > 1 Year;
  • Advanced Excel: > 1 year's experience;
  • Analytical & Detail oriented;
  • High work rate and quality of work;
  • Ability to learn new software applications;
  • Ability to train staff on new processes and software from White collar to Blue collar;

Tertiary Qualifications

Degree in Industrial Engineering (Preferably a 4yr BEng/BSc)

Advanced Excel

Microsoft Visio and Project

PowerPoint

CW1 Warehouse or Other Warehouse Systems

Power BI Beneficial

Minimum requirements

Minimum 1 1/2 - 3 years' experience.

Unendorsed license and own transport;

Ability to travel around in SA, SSA, as well as globally if required.
