Job Title: Agronomist
About the Role:
Villa Crop Protection (Pty) Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Agronomist to provide technical and sales support to our clients in the Western Cape region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be the Crop specialist in different crops for the specific geographical area.
- Assist the National Agronomy Manager and Senior Agronomist in the development and execution of the Crop strategy and campaigns for the different crops in the specific geographical area.
- Support the efficient implementation of key Stewardship measures as part of the crop strategy.
- Assist the management team in developing new products, expanding current products by monitoring, and giving accurate feedback on the local field and market conditions.
- Build strong relationships with sales agents, prominent producers, and relevant industry bodies in the assigned area.
- Take the lead in product complaints and provide tailored solutions.
Requirements:
- BSc degree in agronomy, plant pathology, entomology or closely aligned field.
- At least 3 years experience in the agriculture crop protection industry in a similar role.
- Bilingual: Afrikaans and English.
- Valid drivers license.
- In depth knowledge of business and technical aspects of the product areas and technology.
- In depth knowledge of different crops for a specific geographical area.
- Experience in collaborating with farmers and agents.
- Ability to work within a cross-functional group setting with significant collaboration but also be independent.
- Able to reprioritise and quickly respond to internal and external customers.
- Effective time management.
- Effective relationship management with good people skills.
- Delivery of clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communications appropriate to the relevant audience(s).
- Eye for detail to ensure accuracy, continuity, and completeness of all information.
- Experienced with Microsoft Office Software and the ability to learn latest programs.
- Planning and Managing Work: organises time, people, and activities.
- Critical Thinking Skills: ability to gather and integrate critical information, recognising and addressing underlying assumptions of others, to arrive at effective solutions.
- Customer Focus: responds appropriately and takes personal responsibility for meeting customers expectations.
- Maintains effective communications with customers.
- Technical/Professional Knowledge & Skills: high level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in crop protection, agronomy, and ag business profession.
