Job Description

The Mechanical Artisan will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment and pilot scale furnace facilities in the Pyrometallurgy Division. This role requires a high level of diligence to ensure high productivity, output, and cost management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment and furnace facilities in the Division.
  • Planned maintenance inspections to ensure efficient use and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Attending to breakdowns and providing technical support to ensure maximum availability and performance of all equipment and facilities.
  • Commissioning of new equipment/facilities as required.
  • Continuous improvement efforts on infrastructure through standardization of procedures.
  • Providing technical support to internal and external clients.
  • Evaluating facilities, processes, systems, products, or new developments.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a relevant environment with a minimum of 2 years direct experience operating as a Mechanical Artisan responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of pilot scale DC arc furnace facilities.
  • Knowledge or experience with SHEQ systems is non-negotiable.
  • A strong understanding of DC arc furnaces is highly advantageous.
  • Physically and medically fit.
