Minimum qualifications and experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a grain trading context is preferred.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Risk Management, Finance, or Accounting (or a related discipline).
  • A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a comparable position.
  • Familiarity with established accounting practices and principles.
  • Experience in derivative markets, risk management settings, and the grains sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accuracy in trade positions.
  • Review outstanding contracts.
  • Compile daily profit and loss reports.
  • Conduct daily valuations of new agreements.
  • Perform daily foreign exchange valuations.
  • Assess realized profit and loss.
  • Guarantee precise recording and analysis of revenues and expenditures.
  • Prepare supporting schedules in line with the monthly closing timetable.
  • Conduct monthly account reconciliations by commodity.
  • Manage monthly intercompany reconciliations and transaction recordings.
  • Oversee general ledger operations and month-end closing tasks.
  • Generate commercial reports.
  • Assist with both internal and external audits.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review and authorize payments.
  • Maintain data integrity and validation.
  • Address ad-hoc responsibilities as required.

Essential Skills:

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of derivative markets and/or risk management.
  • Strong numerical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Experience in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
