Agronomist/Horticulturist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Horticulturist/Agronomist to join our team at Farm Manager SA.

• Provide technical recommendations to clients based on soil and leaf analyses to optimize yield and quality.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients through regular on-site visits to secure repeat business.
• Establish and position yourself as a trusted partner, identifying and implementing business opportunities to grow and expand our market share.
• Market and sell products and services, preparing and presenting technical presentations to clients.
• Gain extensive knowledge related to the use and application of our products within a specific geographic location and crop types.
• Participate in research and development initiatives, including field trials, to facilitate continuous product improvement.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, norms, and developments, compiling sales budgets and meeting sales targets.
• Assist Senior Agriculturists or Business Development Managers with programs, presentations, and research as needed.
• Maintain financial and personal administrative records.

Requirements:

• BSc Agric (Agronomy/Horticulture) or relevant four-year BSc degree in Agriculture/Soil Science.
• Less than 5 years of experience.
• Full professional proficiency in Afrikaans and English (speaking and writing).
• Must own a pickup truck (bakkie).

Skills and Capabilities:

• Working understanding of agronomy/horticulture crops, precision ag, soil science, and plant nutrition.
• Ability to market and sell products and services.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as on your own.
• Computer literate.
• Attention to detail and well-organized.
• Work well under pressure and deadline-driven.
