As an Underwriter at HR Genie, you will be responsible for maintaining underwriting standards and providing quality client service. This includes:

  • Issuing new policies, renewals, and endorsements on the CIMS3 System
  • Preparing new business quotes
  • Underwriting in accordance with standards, policies, and procedures
  • Supporting the sales team in acquiring and retaining profitable business
  • Attending to administration and written communication
  • Ensuring that all documentation is processed accurately and correctly
  • Negotiating renewal terms and preparing the renewal documentation
  • Ensuring renewal reviews are completed timeously
  • Ensuring retentions are calculated
  • Requesting and monitoring survey and survey requirements as per laid down procedures
  • Correcting unprofitable policies
  • Ensuring policies are not overexposed
  • Checking policies before sending to clients
  • Telephone contact with clients when they phone in with queries or amendments/additional covers
  • Saving all work electronically
Service Delivery

You will be responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction by:

  • Maintaining service, quality, and desired outputs within a specific functional process by ensuring compliance with tactical policies, procedures, and standards
  • Resolving escalated customer queries and complaints and providing feedback to customers on matters resolved
  • Developing work routines in line with operational plans/schedules in order to manage the achievement of service delivery goals
  • Sharing knowledge on, and participating in the creation of new standards, control systems, and procedures to maintain service delivery
People Practices

You will be responsible for maintaining effective people practices by:

  • Aligning your behavior with the organization's culture and values
  • Sharing and transferring product, process, and systems knowledge to colleagues
  • Collaborating and working with the Underwriting team to ensure required service levels are delivered
Continuous Improvement

You will be responsible for ensuring continuous improvement by:

  • Ensuring adherence to organizational policies, practices, and procedures
  • Identifying and recommending areas/ways to improve processes

This role requires a minimum of five years of relevant underwriting experience and a NQF 5 in Short-Term Insurance. Cardinal 360 system experience will be an advantage.
