**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**

Ensure that the production plan is reviewed, and tooling and ink is made available timeously to the production machines for them to meet production orders

Carry out pre-check and post-use inspections on tooling to ensure that tooling is fit for use and does not hinder production requirements being met.

Assist the Tooling Repairers so that effective and efficient services are delivered to the production units

**REPORTING TO: Services Manager**

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Inspection of new tooling against specifications list and inspection form
- Check printing plates against printing instructions for accuracy and condition and ensure that they are filed in the issuing assembly rack for issuing readiness (and cannot be damaged) and then made available to production if required according to the production plan
- Check tooling availability against the required production plan to ensure availability to production (this includes carrying out pre-inspections to ensure that tooling is fit for use by the machines and arranging tooling for easy access and transport to machines)
- Supply complete tooling pack and ink for each job to the set-up operator at converting machines. This includes dies, bolts and ejector pins for dies, stereos and ink, ink COC, colour swatches, printing instructions and CAD drawings. Tooling packs and ink for at least 3 jobs should be at the converting machines at any time.
- Inform stereo and ink co-ordinator, production planners and production staff if there are delays relating to tooling availability that may impact the production plan

**KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS**
- Ability to converse well in English
- Computer literate
- Must be able to work under pressure and be a problem solver
- Must be flexible and able to work extended hours as well as weekends (when required)
- Reduction of production downtime due to stereo or die availability or defects
- Tooling is cleaned after a production run and declared fit for future use

**REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE**
- Matric
- 1-2 years’ experience working in a packaging manufacturing environment with a technical understanding of Packaging Tooling
