**About Umicore**

**About Rechargeable Battery Materials (RBM)**

Umicore’s rechargeable battery materials (RBM) give people autonomy and connectivity. We are a pioneer in battery materials that give added range and performance to electric vehicles. Our materials also ensure longer battery life for portable electronics. To enable our customers to produce even better performing batteries we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new ideas.

**What you will be doing**

In a general context of rapid expansion of our unit (production capacity, analytical laboratories, R&D activities...), it is necessary to come up with ground-breaking approaches to make research on battery materials faster and cheaper.

One of the R&D activities is experimenting with materials to develop better and higher-performance batteries. This is not done ad random on gut feeling but digitally driven. You will be responsible for executing the projects defined to develop and implement new tools or methodologies to support R&D activities in terms of speed & efficiency.

Your mission as Project Manager digitalisation is to ensure that the selected digitisation projects are successfully implemented so that we can take a leading position by internalising crucial digitalisation knowledge, creating a partnership for high-throughput material screening with our R&D team, setting up in-house multi-scale battery & process modelling and building modern data infrastructure & systems.

To achieve this, you will contribute to roadmaps, make recommendations, identify technology gaps and contribute to the company's digitisation roadmap.

You lead, prepare and coordinate digitalisation projects and strategic studies in an autonomous way, within the context of open team play and in close collaboration with our Business IT and R&D teams, corporate digitalisation and IS teams. You manage the project scope, budget & timeline.

As change manager, you will act in the implementation of new solutions and support the onboarding of new users.

You are preferably based in Belgium (Olen/Brussels) or Korea. But other European countries with an Umicore site are also possible. About 4 times a year you will need to travel abroad (usually Asia, Europe or North America) to meet the various R&D competence teams or external partners.

**Who we are looking for**
- You possess a master's degree, preferably in sciences (chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, etc.). After all, you manage projects from an R&D department. You do not need to be a scientific authority, but still have some understanding of what the experiments are about.
- You have at least 5 years' work experience as a Project Manager. You know how to handle complex projects (time, scope, budget). Preferably, you have interacted with software providers, managed development teams. Experience with Asia is a plus.
- You have knowledge of using digital technologies in at least one domain.
- You are sensitive to the importance of IP and legal issues.
- You have analytical skills to understand the interaction between different technological components in a digitalisation project.
- You have a very good command of English. Other languages, such as Dutch, German, Finnish, Polish, Chinese or Korean are a plus.
- Experience in Operational Excellence or as a Digital Transformation Consultant is a plus.

You are a great teammate with strong interpersonal and communication skills, also towards senior management in a multicultural environment. You are a creative thinker in identifying, structuring and acting on digitisation opportunities. Understanding the financial impact of such opportunities is a plus; you are intellectually flexible and willing to discuss and challenge, and you have an open attitude to divergent opinions;
You are stress-resistant and able to manage tight deadlines.

**What we offer**

We aim to lead the way. Not just for our customers, but for our employees too. That is why we strive to build a collaborative environment in which we can all succeed, and a culture through which we can all share ideas, develop our expertise and advance our careers. We engage in building an inclusive work culture that offers equal opportunities for all employees irrespective of a diverse set of backgrounds. As you would expect from a world-leading organisation, we will also reward your contribution with a competitive salary and benefits. With all this and more, imagine what you could do
