Our client, a large advisory firm, is looking for a Data Scientist to join their team.

These are the details of the role:
**Location**:Johannesburg (JHB)

**Reporting To**: Senior Data Scientist and Department Head

**Overview**:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist to join our client's team. As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing data-driven solutions to solve complex business problems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address data-related challenges, develop and implement data models, and drive data-driven decision making across the organization. Your role may also involve collaborating with internal audit teams.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across various client industry and sectors. You will use your expertise in data science to help us build internal processes as well as help identify new business opportunities where possible.

Your main responsibilities will include designing and implementing data models, analyzing and interpreting complex data sets, and developing data pipelines to collect, process, and analyze large volumes of data from multiple sources.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement data models to analyze large datasets and provide actionable insights for business decision making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data-related challenges and provide innovative solutions.
- Design and develop data pipelines for collecting, processing, and analyzing large volumes of data from multiple sources.
- Collaborate with other data professionals to design and implement data warehousing and business intelligence solutions.
- Communicate complex data findings and insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

**Education**:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

**Required Skills and Experience**:

- Strong proficiency in SQL, MySQL, and Python, with experience working with large datasets and data pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions for complex data-related challenges.
- Experience working with data warehousing and business intelligence tools such as Snowflake, Tableau, and PowerBI.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.

**Preferable Skills and Experience (Advantageous)**:

- Proven experience working as a Data Scientist, with a strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques.

- Analytical Reasoning: Ability to recognize and determine data patterns and articulate their significance.
- Analytics: Ability to analyze situations, identify trends, errors, and strengths, and incorporate data into a broader context.

**Tool Set/Application Specific Competency**:

- SQL, MySQL Workbench: Data modeling, querying and optimization, database administration, data cleaning and transformation, data warehousing, data visualization, and collaboration.
- Python: Data manipulation, data visualization, machine learning, statistical analysis, web scraping, and data engineering.
- MS Excel: Data manipulation, data visualization, statistical analysis, regression analysis, macros, VBA, and data import/export.
- PowerBi, Tableau, Qliksense, etc.: Data modeling, data preparation, data visualization, dashboard design, data integration.
