**RCL FOODS** is currently searching for a** Senior Artisan** to join the **Foods Division** based in **Krugersdorp**. The role reports to the **Engineering Manager.**

**Purpose of the Role**:To plan and supervise the daily maintenance activities to maximize the availability and reliability of the plant for the benefit of the operations department. This position will also provide hands on expertise and leadership of maintenance staff, operators and artisan assistant ensuring the proactive maintenance, repair, and service of equipment.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
Ensure safe work procedures are followed at all times.
Maintain all duties and responsibilities as per legal OHSA appointment.
Plan the daily workload (daily routines, scheduled maintenance; breakdowns; outstanding work requests).

**Plant and work Inspections**
Set the standard of workmanship
Follow up on tasks completed by team members
Housekeeping of workshop and work areas
List jobs arising - and prioritize these jobs
Ensure food safety rules and GMPs are followed in production areas.

**Reliability engineering**
Find the cause of failures and plan to prevent reoccurrence
Ensure the quickest possible turnaround time for all critical plant breakdowns - fit it the first time
Provide technical support to the Maintenance team
Identify and maintain critical equipment
Manage breakdown analyses process
Recommend technical changes (Engineering standards, specifications, etc)

**Maintenance Planning**
Schedule and arrange maintenance and repairs for production operations
Allocate Work Orders to the Maintenance team and sign-off Work Orders
Develop, manage and improve the Computerised Maintenance Management Programme
Maintain and update Maintenance plans
Schedule and arrange Maintenance and repairs for production operations
Develop and execute maintenance shutdown/outage plans

**Maintenance Management/Supervision**
Implement and follow-up action plan to address any deviations from the Maintenance Plan (Breakdowns, etc.)
Perform routine plant inspections to identify non-conformances

Support artisans with fault finding
Setting and reviewing of KPI’s for direct reports

**Stock Control**
Maintain control of Maintenance workshop and stores
Monitor critical stock items and determine optimum stock levels for effective servicing of plant and equipment
Control and order stock for all parts, equipment, and materials required

**Design**
Design basic mechanical components

**Installations**
Commission assemblies / machines

**Maintenance**
Diagnose and repair faults on equipment and machinery during production/operation
Coach and mentor with repairing faults on equipment and machinery during production/operation
Analyze and solve maintenance-related problems
Utilize and perform repair and Maintenance tasks on implements, equipment, and infrastructure
Assist in planning and executing statutory and regulatory maintenance
Continuous Improvement - to improve quality and throughput
Supervise a project team for a technical project to deliver project objectives

**Industrial Relations**
Ensure discipline is maintained in the department (Absenteeism, Time Management, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
Resolve grievances and disputes
Monitor and control costs in the area of responsibility
Coach artisans in plant specifications
Be on standby
Work after hours and on weekends as required

**Minimum Requirements**:
N3 National Certificate in Engineering
Trade tested as Artisan (Fitter & Turner, Electrician, Millwright)
Leadership/supervisory experience
Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience (mechanical or electrical) in the FMCG industry with Supervisory management training
