Required to perform various tasks associated with the efficient management as Environmental officer for various types of Mining related and EIA projects. This includes liaising with other in-house consultants, clients, specialist teams, external consultants and service providers, to ensure that project outputs are delivered on time, and according to project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Coordinating and facilitating large and intense public participation processes / stakeholder engagement;
- Environmental Impact Assessments (Basic Assessment & Full Scoping / EIA);
- Mining Authorisations;
- Water-Use License Applications;
- Environmental Management Plans;
- Auditing; and
- Environmental Monitoring;
- Experience in environmental auditing of an EMP;
- Valid driver’s licence and own transport to travel;
- Regular inspection of the construction works;
- Compilation of an environmental checklist and monthly reports;
- Noting of any potential environmental issues;
- Attend project related meetings and do presentations when required;
- Environmental inductions & training of employees;
- General project admin tasks including:

- Filing
- Typing
- Liaising with project manager
- Additional tasks may be required from time to time that is not directly related to his/her primary function. These tasks will however be within the Employee’s training and experience and the employee will not suffer any remuneration loss or loss in status while executing these tasks.

**Qualifications, experience and requirements**:

- Minimum Degree in Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Aquatic Ecology or Botany / Environmental Management.
- 2 years or more practical experience in an environmental management position with similar responsibilities.

knowledge, skills and competencies:

- Above average communication skills in English, additional languages including Afrikaans will be an advantage
- Well organised, able to plan, prioritise and co-ordinate
- The ability to work in a team and independently, as required
- Must be able to work efficiently and effectively (time management skills)
- Excellent proven, report writing and communication skills are key requirements for this position.
- A good working knowledge and understanding of legislation having reference to the environment (NEMA, NWA, NEM: WA, MPDRA).
- Code 8 Drivers License (with own vehicle) and willingness to undertake project related travel.
- Thorough knowledge of MS Office suite of programmes is essential.
- Knowledge of GIS would be beneficial; and
- Ability to solve problems, interpret and analyse reports, data and to take initiative.
