The Senior Construction Buyer is responsible for leading procurement activities within the construction department, ensuring the timely acquisition of high-quality materials and services at competitive prices. This role requires in-depth knowledge of construction supply chains, vendor management, and strong familiarity with the **BuildSmart** program. The Senior Buyer will work closely with project managers, site teams, and finance to streamline procurement processes, optimize costs, and support the successful execution of construction projects.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Procurement & Vendor Management**:

- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services for construction projects.
- Utilize the **BuildSmart** program to ensure efficient procurement processes, cost tracking, and project management integration.
- Develop strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating favourable terms and conditions.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure timely deliveries and quality materials that meet project specifications.
- Collaborate with the construction team to forecast material requirements and develop procurement schedules that align with project timelines.
- Evaluate and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.

**BuildSmart Program Expertise**:

- Lead the integration and use of the **BuildSmart** system within the construction department to track costs, control budgets, and manage procurement efficiently.
- Train team members on the effective use of BuildSmart to improve procurement planning and reporting.
- Generate reports from BuildSmart on procurement activities, budget tracking, and supplier performance.
- Ensure all procurement data and documentation are accurately captured in BuildSmart, improving transparency and accountability in project procurement.

**Cost Control & Budget Management**:

- Work closely with the finance department to ensure procurement activities align with project budgets.
- Review and analyze pricing trends to ensure competitive purchasing and cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide regular updates to project managers and higher management on procurement progress and cost control measures.

**Compliance & Risk Management**:

- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, local regulations, and industry standards.
- Manage contract terms with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and mitigating risks associated with procurement.
- Handle any procurement-related disputes or issues in a timely and effective manner.

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- **Experience**: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in procurement within the construction industry, with a focus on large-scale projects.
- **BuildSmart Expertise**: Strong working knowledge and experience using **BuildSmart** for procurement, cost control, and project management purposes.
- Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, equipment, and logistics.
- Ability to manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in procurement and financial management software.
- Excellent analytical skills with a focus on cost control, budgeting, and reporting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across departments.
