**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to assist in the coordination, monitoring and support of disaster management functions in order to implement disaster risk reduction. This position is stationed in Tygerberg.
**Minimum Requirements**:
Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification); A minimum of 3 years’ relevant administration experience.
**Recommendation**:
An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher); A valid code B (or higher) driving licence.

**Key Performance Areas**: Provide administrative support in the following areas: Risk reduction planning component; The management of a comprehensive disaster risk and vulnerability assessments; The establishment and maintenance of a Spatial Information System; The implementation of an early warning system; The implementation of special intervention programmes.
**Competencies**:
Knowledge of the following: Disaster Management Act (Act 57 of 2002 as amended) and related policies and guidelines; Understanding of disaster management systems and procedures as applied in all three spheres of government with the focus on disaster risk reduction; Human Resource Management; Financial Management; Strategic planning; Proven computer literacy; Communication (written and verbal) skills; Ability to work under pressure.
**Remuneration**:
R 269 214 per annum plus 37% in lieu of service benefits (Salary level 7)
