Junior Buyer

A big distributor within the LIQUOR trade is looking for an assistant or trainee buyer for the following:
Commercially sounds with excellent attention to detail
Ambitious and needs the security of work
Performance incentives should excite you
Good communicator and potential to build relationships
Assertive but also social enough to fit into industry

YOU NEED TO CURRENTLY BE A JUNIOR OR ASSISTANT BUYER TO BE CONSIDERED. MIN 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE AND WITHIN FMCG
Due to high volumes, if after 4 days you have not heard back, then you have not been shortlisted.
**Requirements**:
Good matric maths
Good negotiator
Good peoples' person
Live in C.T. currently
Ability to speak Afrikaans - suppliers and clients are mostly Afrikaans

You need to be currently based in CT to qualify for consideration

Looking for a assistant buyer that will handle the following for the next 6 - 18 months with a view to becoming a more experienced buyer for the company within 18 - 24 months.

Placing Orders and replenishing branches for all but the top 10 Suppliers
Meeting with suppliers as required and building strong sustainable relationships
Expanding liquor and beverage category and product knowledge
Ensuring trading terms are in place at the targeted levels
Exceeding margin targets with various suppliers
Ensuring pricing and product costs are loaded correctly on the system
Doing promotional claims
Manage Aging Stock - minimize write offs
Follow up with receiving on all orders placed
Ensuring stock levels remain at targeted holding levels
Sourcing new products and suppliers for customers
Ensuring rebates, etc are claimed/paid as per contract
Assisting with weekly advertising and promotional campaigns

The person should also have the potential to expand into the following 12-24 months from now:

- Day to day interactions with all suppliers
- Placing orders and replenishing branches for all suppliers including top 10
- Negotiating and presenting a competitive promotional campaign
- Negotiate for margin growth
- Create synergies as part of the senior leadership team
- Develop buy in strategies by optimizing space vs returns to maximize profits

**Job Type**: Permanent

**Salary**: R17,000.00 - R22,000.00 per month
