- Chief Inspector in Electrical Machines (Position Re-opened)- To control and administer the inspection function, ensuring effective and efficient inspection to the required quality standards of all materials and components and that production or product delivery is stopped when these are not met.- Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Controlling the inspection function to ensure compliance with drawings, technical specifications, works order, quality requirements and procedures by all sections during manufacture.- The installation and maintenance of effective inspection procedures and disciplines to ensure the Company’s product quality is assured to the highest levels at minimum overall cost.- Investigate quality problems encountered on incoming material or in manufacture, in conjunction with subcontractors, Production, Engineering or Sales/Contracts as appropriate and assisting in providing solutions to these problems.- Updating inspection documents and procedures in conjunction with the Quality Department.- Inspection surveillance and audits of supplier’s products, either on their own premises or on receipt by stores.- Liaison with customer’s inspectors or representatives on manufacturing quality matters and ensuring that their requirements, as stated in the works order are met.- This does not include liaison with the customer’s inspectors or representatives with regard to witness electrical performance testing.- Liaison with SABS for product approval to permit specific conditions as and when required.- Operating and administering the Defect Report and concessionary system, as well as Non-conformance Report follow-ups.- Maintaining records of inspection indicating conformance with drawings, technical specifications and customer requirements, including records of inspections (QCP related) witnessed by customer inspectors or representatives.- Providing feedback information on quality to the Quality Manager.- Ensuring appropriate inspection instrumentation and gauges are available to meet quality objectives.- Ensuring instrumentation is maintained and is in calibration to the company’s procedures.- Training of all Inspection personnel and where necessary to the manufacturing operators.- Maintain and ensure cleanliness, good housekeeping and safety within the inspection facilities.- Organised and tidy control of archived quality documentation.- To carry out any other duties that may be assigned by his superior.- Scope: Core product range of four different motor types: Unibox (355 - 1190), MS4 (355 - 500), Flameproof (FD 70 - 91) and IKV (160 - 220). Sectors: All major industrial users of electric motors (RSA, Africa and abroad).- Qualifications: Artisan or Qualified in relevant trade (Electrical/Mechanical)- Experience: Must have at least 7 years experience in inspection/QC Conversant with 1SO9001 Quality requirements and documentation. External and internal auditing experience.- Special requirements: Must be meticulous, dedicated and have knowledge of HV motors. Computer literate and have manufacturing experience. Be able to read and interpret drawings & specs.- Remuneration: Basic salary 30K- Medical Aid (Company pay 2/3)- Provident Fund 13th Cheque-
