Structural Steel Detailer R25 000 - R30 000 - Pietermaritzburg/Mkondeni

Well established Metal and Consumables Supplier are in search of a Structural Steel Detailer with no less than 5 years experience and an excellent stable working record (longevity in their previous positions) to become part of their team.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Monday to Friday
- Prepare structural steel shop drawings utilizing Tekla & AutoCAD software.
- Prepare steel erection plans as well as detailing individual structural steel members.
- Prepare steel shop drawings for miscellaneous steel.
- Knowledge of shop and erection process.
- Experienced in connection detailing.
- Experience with other drawing packages preferred but not mandatory.

- Develop Tekla models following structural and architectural design drawings;
- Connect members following information supplied by the project EOR and the connection design engineer;
- Consult and supply design alterations to connection engineer on difficult connections;
- Draft concise RFI’s / DXF / DWG / NC files
- Implement design impacts for changes issued through SI’s and CCN’s;
- Planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating the activities and operations of project teams;
- Organizing, directing, and controlling detailing and drafting activities in commercial; industrial, resource, transportation, recreation and other sectors;
- Consulting with fabricator, workshop and if required liaising with architects and engineers;
- Supporting workshop with accurate cut lists and CNC data files for the fabrication process;
- Reviewing information models, engineer prepared drawings and data imports;
- Managing the preparation and coordination of assembly drawings and erection plans;
- Ensuring that completed drawings have been reviewed for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with client’s fabrication and erection needs (as per contract);
- Ensure that drawings have been checked for conformity with clients’ and Exacts’ specifications and standards;
- Mentoring junior and intermediate detailers in all aspects of structural steel detailing; and
- Promoting continuous improvement and contributing to company-wide policies, standards and procedures, and supporting juniors in increasing their knowledge of Tekla Structures software and steel detailing in general.
- Prepare details foe sheeting, flashings and other buyouts.

**Qualification**:

- High level of knowledge of industry standard detailing practices.
- Successful completion of steel detailing training from a recognized college or technical school; preferred structural detailing certificate.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a detailing role and progressive responsibility for planning execution and monitoring of major steel detailing projects.
- Proficiency in TEKLA Structures software and AutoCAD software.
