Overview

Provide full support and be responsible for all Debtors and Creditors functions, reporting, and planning thereof as well as providing general financial support functions including GL recons, bank recons, cashbook, Purchase Orders, journal entries etc specifically related to Nikham’s entities located in countries whose official language is Portuguese - eg Mozambique, Angola etc

Debtors

Customer collections, resolution of customer queries, manage debtors age analysis to balance to the GL together with balancing of debtors control account at month end

Entering of bank deposits, correct allocation of payments to debtor’s accounts as per remittance advice, payment reconciliation, reconcile forex exchange gains/losses on debtors accounts.

Online customer files to be organized, all hard copy files to be updated/maintained and ensure all documentation is filed as per audit compliance requirements

Debtors’ collections forecasting reports, processing of credit notes and journal entries, timeous month end reporting

Creditors

Oversight of purchase orders and capturing of purchase orders and supplier invoices together with 3-way matching to delivery notes

Perform creditor recons, allocate cost invoices to correct entities and department

Manage all queries with suppliers related to invoices, credit notes, delivery notes, etc

Responsible for balancing of creditors control account at month end

Online supplier files to be organized, all hard copy files to be updated/maintained and ensure all documentation is filed as per audit compliance requirements

Creditors’ forecasting reports to aid in cashflow projections, processing of journal entries, timeous month end reporting/completion.

General

Full responsibility for Petty Cash for the Cape Town office including disbursement of funds, ensuring receipts are provided by staff, balancing up end of the month, reconciliation etc.

Comprehensive knowledge of Chart of Accounts, IFRS, ability to interpret and correlate financial data from Portuguese format to English format across different company entities - for uniformity in group reporting results.

Ensure all financial transactions are accurately classified to Chart of Accounts, daily financial entries are recorded correctly and financial reconciliations are performed.

Responsible for tracking of all statutory financial reporting and submissions as required in respective country in respect of taxes, VAT, Social Security etc. Prepare all monthly returns for submission and diarise/schedule payments in conjunction with the Financial Manager.

Write up cashbook, post payments / receipts and reconcile cashbooks with bank statements

Responsible for capturing of bank statements and performing bank reconciliation

Prepare and process monthly staff payroll including payslips, calculation of deductions, statutory submissions of contributions to authorities, monthly and year end reconciliations of payroll.

Prepare Trial Balance in conjunction with the Financial Manager upon request

Perform General Ledger functions which may include preparing journal entries, performing accounting analysis for cash accruals, account payables, account receivables, reconciliations and foreign exchange. Ensure a balanced General Ledger is maintained.

Produce management reports and other financial reporting in English for group review/consolidation of results.

Support FM with preparation of budgets, business plans and financial reporting as needed

Requirements - Education & Professional Qualifications

High School/Matric

Bookkeeping Certificate to Trial Balance or preferably Balance Sheet

Requirements - Professional Experience

5 year background supporting Creditors function, knowledge of Debtors, processing of journals

Solid experience in General Ledger Reconciliations, track record of successful AR recovery

Au fait with company financial statutory obligations and reporting

Requirements - Computer Skills

Excellent MS Office skills, particularly advanced skills with Excel

Familiar with financial/accounting packages such as Sage, Pastel, Oracle etc

Requirements - Languages

Excellent command of English, written/read/spoken

Fluent in Portuguese, written/read/spoken

Good level of spoken Afrikaans would be highly advantageous

This position is a full time permanent position that is office based in Durbanville with a start Date 1 April 2023.
