**RE-ADVERTISING: SENIOR LECTURER / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LITERARY STUDIES IN ENGLISH**

Rhodes University wishes to appoint a qualified person to join a vibrant team in the Department of Literary Studies in English.

All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level, and make some contribution to their profession.

**Requirements**:
**Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor**
A PhD in Literary Studies in English or a cognate discipline, such as Comparative Literature or Cultural Studies. Experience in teaching and research in the following disciplinary areas: literary studies in English with particular expertise in one or more of the following areas: dramatic literature, digital literacies and literatures, film, television and other media studies, and literary theory.

**Remuneration**

**Senior Lecturer**
Cost to Company Approximately: R 899,440.00

Basic Salary: R 631,639.00

**Associate Professor**
Cost to Company Approximately: R1,067,269.00

Basic Salary: R 751,736.00

Rhodes University has a vaccination mandate as part of its Conditions of Service. The implementation of the vaccine mandate has been held in abeyance from 01 January 2023.
