Key Responsibilities:
The Project Assistant for the Nelson Mandela Bay Water Innovation Project will be responsible for operating the Ford Watergen mobile unit (Ford double cab, Gen350 engine, and generator), as well as any other necessary administrative or support tasks relating to the project's operations. The position will also be responsible for assisting the Project Manager with any task associated with the implementation of the project including stakeholder mobilization, logistics planning, moving the equipment from place to the another.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Driving, Water generation and supply to communities:
- Drive project vehicle and associated equipment to project sites where implementation of activities will be conducted, as directed by or in cooperation with the project coordinator.- Ensure vehicle is safe and availability of all the required documents and supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, first aid kit and necessary spare parts.- Ensure cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintance of daily vehicle logs, log all trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.- Assist the project coordinator in operating the water generating unit during operations, e.g. appropriately parking and setting the unit for operations; ensuring a safe operating environment for the mobile unit; dispensing water; taking pictures, etc.- Ensure the vehicle, trailer and generator are operated with utmost care, in the spirit of good stewardship at all times, and consistent with the country’s laws and World Vision standards/policies.- Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.

Administration Work and stakeholder engagement:
- Creation and appropriate closure of purchase requisitions as guided by project coordinator.- Assist with administrative functions during campaigns / activities or meetings, e.g. administering registers, taking minutes, filing, photocopying, etc.- Support the writing of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports.- Attend training and write all World Vision compliance tests.- Provide support while you are at the satellite office in taking care of visitor registration, incl. maintaining a register of incoming visitors.- Support project partners with information that would be sound for the smooth project uptakes.- Deliver/distribute project goods to the respective districts.- Deliver correspondence to project partners as may be required.- Facilitate pick-ups for project visitors and transportation during official visits- Support in ensuring the cleanliness of working environment or satellite office.- Attend Project meetings (internal and external) as directed by or in cooperation with the project coordinator.- Attend weekly and actively participate in devotions.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience- Thorough knowledge of the road system of the area of work- Strong written and administrative skills.- Ability to prioritize work in relation to need and urgency.- Similar working experience, ideally in an NGO environment- Experience and understanding of government partners through the local governments.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
- A valid C1 driver’s license (possession of EC1/EC Licence would be an added advantage)- A minimum of 2-3-year driving experience is required.- A bachelor’s degree or diploma on public administration or equivalent will be an added advantage.

Language Requirements

Effective in written and verbal communication - English.
