Product Manager

This role is an individual contributor position and will take accountability for maximising the value of the product and representing the customer to the development team to achieve the product strategy by ensuring that the product development is following the product roadmap.

This position will:
Product backlog management:

- Development and explicit communication of the product goal
- Creating and clearly communicating the product backlog items
- Ordering product backlog items and ensuring that the product backlog is transparent, visible and understood
- Ensure visibility of the prioritised list of requirements for future product development

Support product management strategy:

- Capture and prioritise the development team’s user stories to work on in upcoming sprints, coupled with acceptance criteria
- Develop product stories and points of sale for the product
- Determine improvements to product features
- Take product management initiatives, break them down into stories or actionable chunks of value and work with development team to implement
- Drive the delivery of a quality product that ensures the right customer problem is solved
- Define the product differentiation strategy and tracks progress towards the release of the product

Contribute to the strategic roadmap through collaboration:
- Define the product enhancement strategies and report on the product’s roadmap to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain plan integration and ensure the overall achievement of the product objectives and key results
- Determine, with other colleagues, the product vision, positioning and direction

- Bridge the gap between the product strategy and development elements
- Organise sprints and answer questions from developers regarding the product goals - Review the backlog of development tasks and prioritise what developers should take on next
- Share market research and competitive analysis with the team to best focus their efforts Learn the market and customer needs:

- Translate the company’s strategic plan into the right execution steps, using their understanding of the market and customer needs
- Develop a good understanding of the problems the product is aiming to solve, the customer needs or desires that have informed the product strategy and what will be viewed as product success

Knowledge, skills and attributes:

- Strong analytical capability with the ability to meet deadlines - Ability to construct clear product user stories, requirements and technical documentation
- Ability to construct clear product requirements and technical documentation - Attention to detail coupled with accurate execution and delivery - Ability to work on several simultaneous projects
- Strong technical abilities and a passion for new technologies and analytical tools - Possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to effectively engage with customers and internal stakeholders
- Knowledge of user-centred design principles - Deep knowledge of the product lifecycle and stages
- Knowledge of digital / platform products and the market it serves. i.e., domain expertise - Ruthless focus on next steps with the ability to balance technical constraints and a differentiated product
- Excellent influencing skills - Ability to translate customer needs into tangible product features and technical details Education and training:

- Degree in a technical field, e.g. Marketing, Computer Science - Agile certification would be advantageous - Professional Scrum Product Owner - Advanced certification Experience: - At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role with B2B or B2C product management experience - Experience in information gathering and the creation of product stories, use cases, workflows and acceptance criteria. - Demonstrated success in releasing products that meet and exceed business expectations - Subject matter expertise in digital products / platforms or markets and how to develop solutions for these markets, including specific industry and technical knowledge - Proven ability or experience in influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority

**Salary**: R50,000.00 - R65,000.00 per month
