Junior Safety Officer

**Junior Safety Officer (Pretoria)**

As a Junior Safety Officer, you will assist in ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment. You will work under the supervision of Senior Safety Personnel to implement safety policies, conduct inspections, and provide safety training to employees.

**Primary Duties**:

- Assist in conducting regular safety inspections of the workplace to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in developing and implementing safety procedures, policies, and guidelines in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in conducting safety training sessions for employees on topics such as hazard identification, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
- Monitor and ensure the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and facilities.
- Collaborate with other departments to address safety concerns and implement corrective measures.
- Assist in maintaining safety records and documentation, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training records.
- Stay updated on relevant safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Participate in safety meetings and committees to contribute ideas and recommendations for enhancing workplace safety.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Senior Safety Personnel or Management.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Required Skills and Experience
- Essential Matric qualification
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field - **SAMTRAC**:

- **Registered with SACPCMP - NON-NEGOTIABLE**:

- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards
- Strong attention to detail and observation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- **Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)**:

- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities
- Prior experience in a similar role or industry is an advantage

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: R10 000,00 - R15 000,00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Erasmuskloof, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Health and Safety: 2 years (required)

License/Certification:

- SACPCMP Certificate (required)
- SAMTRAC Qualification (required)
