Highbury Media T/A Habari Media is a media powerhouse, whose world-class titles connect brands to targeted audiences. We are seeking an experienced mid-writer to join our editorial team, based in Ndabeni, Cape Town.
- Write clear, engaging, content for our brand
- Must be a great writer, proficient in spelling, grammar, and fact-checking
- Localize content whenever possible
- Research, interview sources and write articles on various topics
- Brainstorm content/article ideas that are fresh and relevant and pitch them to the editor
- Assist in the running of magazines through the print cycle
- Assist with the editing of layouts
- Must be competent in the basics of proofreading and editing glaring errors
- Write digital articles. Anything from breaking and hard news to community news, events, new places, adventures, things to do and feature stories (to name a few)
- Schedule editorial and social media content in advance and write on the fly, under pressure
- WordPress and social media experience is beneficial
- Must have a sharp eye for trends and viral content
- Contribute to bettering our brand and being ahead of the game
- Think creatively, brainstorm, and work well in a close-knit team
- Contribute towards creating incredible content for our valued clients and work closely with production to ensure a seamless operation from brief to publication
- Maintain a solid work ethic whilst working a flexible schedule

**Requirements**:

- The position needs someone who will work closely with the editor in achieving the brand’s goals
- They need to have a good understanding of the brand’s principles and should be able to curate the content, so it expresses the pillars and tone.
- They should be creative and familiar with digital trends and work with the editor, to drive the digital numbers

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Cape Town, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
