- The Indirect Purchaser role reports into the Procurement and Stores Manager, with offices based in Johannesburg South. The Indirect Purchaser is responsible for all indirect purchasing activities which will include monthly Procurement decisions that are driven by current inventory levels, forecasts and with consideration of prevailing economic and market conditions.-
**Responsibilities of the role**:

- Responsible for following up vendor delivery performance, order confirmation and to escalate to the Procurement and Stores Manager and Strategic Purchasers when supplier performance is poor.
- Responsible for the daily buying of indirect purchase items related to consumables and maintenance items required by the factory (PO placements, PO management, vendor management)
- Responsible for the working capital related to manufacturing inventory and optimising inventory holding levels.
- Responsible to make sure the ERP system is up to date with correct parameters and data, such as lead-time, MOQ, safety stock, reorder point, etc.

**Requirements for success**:

- Minimum certificate in Supply Chain, Procurement, or similar field. Alternatively, able to demonstrate the required level of competence through experience.
- Intermediate understanding of common Operational Procurement processes.
- General understanding of supply agreements and contracts.
- Intermediate experience negotiation and in Pricing mechanisms and indices.
- Excel and Microsoft outlook experience.
- Inventory level management, Supplier lead times and minimum order quantities experience.
- Ability to problem solve and self-teach new skills and knowledge needed to advance your work. An aptitude and willingness to learn and develop through both self-study and formal training.
- Able to demonstrate a history of competence and achievement in the Procurement or Supply Chain field.
- Professional written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work in a high-paced environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Able to self-manage, self-prioritise and action accordingly.

**Skills developed through the role**:

- Experience as an Indirect Purchaser, Procurement Specialist, Procurement Officer or similar role.
- Understanding of various Procurement Policies and processes.
- Vendor Management experience.
- Inventory Management experience.
- Min and Max inventory management.
- Sourcing and Negotiation experience.

**Advantageous Experience**
- Experience with Syspro.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment as a purchaser.
- Preferential BBBEE Procurement.
