Electrical Superintendent

**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**:
To maintain electrical plant equipment in good operational condition, legal compliance of all electrical legally binding plant equipment, to ensure at least 98% plant availability, equipment function at the designed line rate and meet food quality standards. Conduct Opex and Capex electrical and automation projects. Manage artisans and company resources for electrical equipment to ensure plant availability.

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**:

- Maintenance of electrical high voltage installation
- Fault finding of any electrical and PLC problems in the plant
- Ensure plant availability in terms of electrical installation
- Ensure good control of R/kWh usage in the plant
- Implement Opex projects to ensure plant runs optimum
- Reduce kWh consumption as a result of ammonia, air compressor and inductive electrical installation
- Ensure good control of R/kWh usage in the plant

- Conduct PLC programming opex projects
- Conduct survey for installation of VSd’s to reduce plant losses
- Plant automation to minimize plant losses

**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**
- VSD’s configuration and programming
- PLC programming
- Electrical wiring circuits
- HV switching

**ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES**
- PLC programming, Plant automation
- Resource management of artisans
- Wiring and fault finding on PLC and instrumentation systems
- Plant control and main circuits

**EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
- 5 Years’ experience as supervisor in an FMCG/ Manufacturing environment, experience in packaging equipment,
- High tension HV switching experience, transformers and switch gear maintenance, PLC (Siemens, Allen Bradley programming and scada experience, metal detectors
- On job training ,couching and development of instrument technicians for plant activities
- Understanding of Electrical equipment, wiring of control circuits for all plant equipment, packing weigh scales and packing machines. Must have sound understanding of electrical Engineering drawings (HV, Transformers, and switch gears electrical.
- Strong knowledge of PLC wiring and programming. Plant automation and synchronization of equipment.

**LEGAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Trade test
- GMR2.7 appointee

**ON-THE-JOB TRAINING REQUIRED**
- HV switching for Switch gears and Transformers
- Plant VSD’s programming and configurations

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Matric/ Gr 12/ STD 10
- Electrical/Millwright Trade and PLC
- Certificates: Trade test, N- course, Diploma and PLC certificate
