Key responsibilities:

- Marketing and selling conference and banqueting facilities
- Scheduling reservations
- Operating the facilities profitably
- Planning well so each event runs smoothly
- Checking all bills are paid on time
- Managing your food and beverage team
- Briefing staff and checking the room set-up before the event
- Ensuring the room is turned around, ready for the next evens
- To ensure that all legislative and guidelines are adhered to, including (but not exclusively) The Food Safety Act, Health and Safety at Work Act, the COSHH regulations, GDPR etc. within the areas of responsibility.
- To monitor daily the standards achieved in your department, to deliver exception customer service and levels of attention to detail and report any areas of concerns to the Conference & Banqueting manager.
- To liaise with key people in all necessary areas (kitchen, events, reception) of the business to ensure the provision of food and service is consistent and in line with menu/standards pre-agreed.
- To ensure that on-going training is carried out to the benefit of all staff and that all training is recorded on each member’s personal file.
- To monitor that all staff present themselves correctly dressed for duty and are well groomed whilst on duty.

- Leadership skills to motivate and manage your team
- The confidence to liaise with other heads of department and deliver what the client wants
- Good communication skills to find out exactly what your clients want
- Personal charm to greet organisers, hosts and VIPs and to show clients you are giving them full attention
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- A cool head to deal with last minute requests and problems
- A can-do attitude, because you may need to hire audio visual, lighting, a DJ, a band, stages, and marquees
- Respond to and try to fulfill any special banquet event arrangements and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Assist management in training, scheduling, evaluating, counselling and motivating employees
- Communicate any additional meal requirements or special requests to the kitchen
- Ensure banquet staff is working together as a team, inspect staff’s grooming standards

**Qualification and Experience**
- Event management, hospitality management or F&B related NVQs, HNDs or Degrees
- 5 to 8 years working experience as a Banqueting Manager
