Electrical & Instrument Charge Hand

**Minimum requirements**:

- Matric
- N4
- Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering or Qualified Millwright
- Qualified Electrician or Instrument technician - trade tested
- PLC, Scada systems and electrical experience
- SAP PM experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a petrochemical sector with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Assist with electrical and mechanical breakdowns
- Supervise junior employees and external contractors while working on site
- Stand in for Maintenance Engineer when not available
- Training of apprentices when the needs arise
- Oversee the performance of all maintenance daily work and assist where required
- Attend to emergency breakdowns
- Must be available for Callouts
- Plan and prioritise work through job card system
- General purpose fabrication and construction
- Ensure that maintenance of electrical and mechanical components is done timeously
- Perform instrumentation work
- Do fault finding on PLC and Scada systems
- Prepare CAPEXs
- Good receipt for delivered goods and rendered services
- Attend plant walk abouts with or without management
- Perform random site inspections to confirm if Artisans and contractors perform as required
- All reports required by Maintenance and Engineering Managers are submitted
- Provides support during internal and External audits
- Ensures that all Artisans tool registers are up to date and filed on Engineering Drive
- Maintain HT equipment i.e., 11kv switchgear, power factor correction, transformers
- Maintain all deluge electrical systems
- Maintain all emergency generators
- Maintain hydraulic systems
- Pump, boiler, and compressor maintenance
- Statutory electrical inspections
- Repair generators, boilers, pneumatic, compressors, pumps, condensers, valves, diesel engines
- Overhaul and test valves, mechanical pumps, and relief valves
- Install mechanical seals
- Service electrical and instrument equipment
- Overtime is monitored and approved in advance
- Inspect pipeline and flexible hose (pipe conductivity testing)
- Install motors
- Work on both electrical, instrumentation and electrical system.
- Commitment regarding daily/weekly planned maintenance check sheets
- Operating within the parameters of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Ensure compliance with the OSH Act
- Adhere to the BTT ISO 9001 Quality procedures, ISO 14001 Environmental procedures, and ISO 18000 safety procedures
- Assist with ISO and NOSA audits to ensure that standards are met.
- Visual checks on compressors, cylinders, air receivers, lines, hoses, pipes, pumps, guards, boilers, and tanks
- Overhauling and testing of P.V. valves, isolation valves and relief valves
- To assist in controlling a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to maintain company assets within specification and to maintain equipment availability
- To ensure all generated waste is disposed correctly and timeously
- To insist that all equipment removed for repairs is clearly tagged as contaminated or clean and returned to stores for credit
- Ensure that damaged equipment is sent out for repairs and returned timeously
- Use of root cause failure analysis and debottleneck where possible
- Assist with project work when necessary
- Safely operate specialized tools and equipment

**Knowledge, skills, and abilities required**
- Able to handle the labour force when working together.
- Handle machinery such as drills, grinders, welding machines and power tools, safely and correctly.
