**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The IT & Cyber Security Officer is accountable for the design and implementation of Information Technology security solutions with a focus on operational measures to support the goal of protecting CBN’s varied systems, networks, and data. The primary output of this role will be to design, implement and address requirements for operational response to mitigate security incidents.

**LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Facilitates the appropriation of operational tasks as they relate to the Information Security department’s strategic plans, security initiatives and tools to disseminate to other operational staff as appropriate.
- Ensures documentation and training to other staff members is performed to allow for adequate operational coverage in terms of approved process, procedures and tool usage.
- Participate and collaborate with internal and external IT groups for security design, implementation, and peer review.
- Ensure that we are POPIA and PAIA compliant in all our operations as well encouraging compliance with the conditions for the lawful processing of personal information (as laid out in POPI).
- Ensures documentation and training to other staff members is performed to allow for adequate operational coverage in terms of approved process, procedures and tool usage.
- Participate and collaborate with internal and external IT groups for security design, implementation, and peer review.
- Review and suggest design of toolset features and policy improvements to allow for continual growth in security posture.
- Develop KPIs and Critical Success Factors to continually evaluate the operational success of security endeavors.
- Perform reviews of security related points of interest to identify potential areas of improvement or proactive remediation.
- Ensures that devices are configured against known and agreed upon security hardening standards during implementation.
- Enforce policies, procedures, and associated plans for system security administration and user system access based on industry-standard best practices
- Assist with the process, policy and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating new security systems, equipment, software, and other technologies
- Remain informed on trends and issues in the security industry, including current and emerging technologies and prices
- Additional duties as assigned

**REQUIRED SKILLS / COMPETENCIES**:

- B.S. Information Systems, related degree, or 2-4 years’ experience preferred
- Knowledge of vulnerability and patch management practices
- Experience with Active Directory security and management
- Knowledge of Information Technology security best practices and configuration standards/hardening tactics
- Strong understanding of Windows OS (Experience with Linux distributions a plus)
- Knowledge of scripting
- Client-centric and able to work in a variety of environments
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills; must have ability to communicate at all levels within the organization both verbally and in writing
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
- Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of Salesforce is an advantage

**CERTIFICATIONS**
- MCP, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Security+, GSEC
- Basic knowledge of ITIL a plus
