Production Artisan

**BACKGROUND**

Youngman Roofing, a leading supplier of high-quality roofing and insulation products, is looking for a suitably experienced individual to join the Group as Production Artisan, based in Milnerton, Cape Town. The individual will be responsible for installing and maintaining machinery in the factory.

**KEY RESPONSIBILTIES**
- Plan, schedule and perform regular maintenance on all machinery.
- Attend breakdowns when required on all Production machinery.
- Repair, rebuild, modify or replace shafts, bearings and motors.
- Provide any needed training on how to use the equipment safely and efficiently.
- Installation of equipment and machinery.
- Report unsafe conditions to Line Manager.
- Must be able to do standby duties and overtime when required.
- Responding to maintenance requests, investigating of complaints, and carrying out the required maintenance work.
- Sourcing of suppliers, obtaining quotes and ordering of services and materials required for maintenance.
- Inspecting and reporting on conditions of equipment, advising Management of electrical and mechanical problems and recommending actions to minimize the number of breakdowns.
- Stocktaking and control of maintenance consumables, also ensuring that required stock levels are maintained.
- Supervision of contractors on site.
- Ensuring compliance with OHS Act, Regulations, and company safety rules.
- Effective time management, communication, and interaction with other departments.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Read, interpret, and understand basic electrical and mechanical drawings.

**SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**

Grade 12 or equivalent

Accredited trade certificate (mechanical)

Ability to do welding and lathe work

5-6 years working experience as a production artisan

Tertiary qualification in industrial maintenance advantageous

Experience in setting up a preventative maintenance plan

Relevant experience in steel manufacturing industry, and knowledge of similar machinery

Excellent manual dexterity

High regard for strict safety guidelines and cognizant of safety risks

Mechanical aptitude in dealing with relevant tools.

Working knowledge of mechanical technical skills to effectively read documents such as specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints.
- Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues.
- Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to be a team player due to constant interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Organised and methodical.

**Interviews will be followed by a practical assessment of skills.**

License/Certification:

- Trade Certificate (Mechanical) (preferred)
