Chief Electrician

**Minimum Requirements**
- Electrical Trade Test certificate of competence
- Minimum 10 years’ experience within mining environment
- MV Switching Certificate
- Wiremen’s license
- Instrumentation and / or PLC Certificate of Training
- HIRA training certificate will be advantageous
- Read and Understand MV and LV Drawings
- Code EB driver license
- Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
- Pre-employment medical required

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Ensuring a safe and legally compliant working environment (SHE and MHS Legislation) and work practices
- Taking full responsibility for own budget (labour productivity, recoveries and expenses)
- Devising and implementing Fixed Plant electrical maintenance plans and associated activities to effectively support all Fix Plant operational entities in the Western Cape
- Ensuring adequate technical capacity to effectively support the Fixed Plant electrical maintenance requirements of the Western Cape (people, skills, facilities, tooling, equipment and systems)
- Establishing a pro-active and performance-based culture in own team
- Assisting with the implementation of the Afrimat Physical Asset Management (PAM) Strategy - specific responsibility for Fixed Plant electrical in the Western Cape
- Must be able to utilise proper fault-finding techniques to complete work successfully
- Implementing and enforcing engineering standards related to Fixed Plant electrical in the Western Cape
- Training of apprentices (Electricians)
- Must make use of MV and LV drawings when conducting fault finding repair and installations
- Maintain all electrical drawings
