The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is therefore seeking to appoint an efficient and enthusiastic

person to undertake the role of:

**Job Summary**:
Support the Senior Manager: GRC in executing the Risk Management Strategy. Plays an advisory role

on all risk management related issues within SAWS through the governance and compliance policies

and procedures and ensuring that there is necessary monitoring mechanism in place for risk

mitigation/control measures.

**Key Performance Areas**:

- Implementation of fraud risk policies and strategies.
- Facilitate compilation and maintenance of risk management policies, procedures and

methodologies in line with all statutory & regulatory requirements, best practice standards
and business practices.
- Facilitate the risk identification and assessment process (with various business units and

regional offices across the SAWS, including physical assessment at the Regions. This process
will include insurance risks, operational risks, project risk and fraud risk assessments.
- Identify internal control gaps and make recommendations to management on improving

internal control systems.
- Implement effective processes and procedures with appropriate controls to ensure

compliance with all relevant legislation.
- Liaise with managers and assist them to develop and implement strategies to mitigate/

eliminate organisational risks and to monitor these on an on-going basis and submit the
relevant reports.
- Implements enterprise risk management tools and practices to analyse and report enterprise

risks.
- Monitor and report on key risk and compliance issues where indicators prompt

attention/involvement.
- Coordinate Business Continuity activities for SAWS.
- Assist business units to review and update and monitor the Business Continuity Management

(BCM) plans.
- Review the Business impact analysis.
- Reviews activities reviews internal and external reports to analyse and mitigate risk trends

and emerging risks.
- Prepares fraud and anti-corruption plans in consultation with management and create internal

fraud awareness.***

**Required Minimum Education/Training**:

- Diploma in Risk Management/Auditing (NQF 6) or Bachelor of Commerce
- IRMSA - Institute of Risk Management South Africa membership (added advantage), and/or
- ACFE - Association of Fraud Examiners Membership (added advantage)***

**Required Minimum Work Experience**:

- At least 5 years’ experience in risk management/auditing, 2 years of which must have been

at supervisory level reporting to governance structures e.g., Risk Management Committees,
EXCO and MANCO.
- Knowledge of insurance risk management.
- Knowledge and understanding of public sector legislation.
