**Key Tasks**:
**Planning**: design planning, project planning and co-ordination

**Drawing & Design**: Translate customer requirements and specifications into engineering

drawings; design calculations; verification of project costing and budget; tender proposed design drawing; lead concept design development and research; provision of data for specification and liaison with salesperson and suppliers; lead new developments on designs; complete 3D model designs; component design and improvement of current designs; approval of 3D model design of components and correct workshop drawings according to ISO standards; approval and sign -off detailed design.

**Engage with larger manufacturing**: solving of design and drawing problems; creating a Bill Of Materials (BOM) for each production; produce manufacturing drawings, electrical and plumbing diagrams; and produce detail designs for each PROD

**Quality Control**: Ensure the effectiveness of each designed superstructure component; be held jointly responsible for the overall end-result of flawless operating Fire Engines

**Teamwork**: weekly design & drawing team meetings; receiving task and deadlines; manage performance of staff in section.

**EPDM**: have at least 5 years’ experience with EPDM

**Minimum Requirements**:
5 years’ plus relevant experience in mechanical design in automotive industry experience

Minimum of 5 years’ experience designing using SolidWorks

Minimum of 5 years’ EPDM experience

**Computer skills (MS Office**: Word, Excel)

EC Code drivers’ license

Experience within the Fire Fighting environment would be advantageous

Experience with high
- and low-pressure pump integrations on vehicles would be advantageous

Experience in sheet metal & GRP design would be advantageous

Experience in writing operational manuals would be advantageous

Visual project lay-out

**Required Knowledge**:
Quality control

Ability to interpret specifications and tender requirements

National and international knowledge of drawing and design standards

Knowledge of Road Traffic Act (National standards)

Truck and vehicle lay-out calculations would be advantageous

Fire-fighting product knowledge would be advantageous
