Utilities Specialist

**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**

To provide specialist knowledge regarding boiler operation and maintenance to ensure effective and efficient steam supply to production and assist with maintenance of specific production related machines/equipment

**REPORTING TO: Maintenance Manager**

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Boilers**
- Know how to Start a boiler from cold as per John Thompson standards and operate the Boiler
- Perform all boiler running checks
- Understand legalities and all statutory requirements as per DOL (OSHACT awareness)
- Perform Continuous improvements around the boiler (efficient condensate return and make up water)
- Fully understand Bavaria steam system

**Compressors/Dryers**
- Understand Screw type compressors and its general maintenance
- Do daily checks and monitor air quality to the plant
- Understand and perform random air audits as per required factory loads
- Ensure compressor is serviced as per OEM intervals

**Stand by Generators**
- Understand generators and perform weekly checks as per OEM
- Ensure generators is serviced as per OEM intervals

**Pallet Line**
- Maintain Pallet Inserter; Pallet Strapper and Pallet Wrappers as per OEMs
- Maintain BDS system as per OEM

**Waste Plant**
- Maintain and fully understand baler operation as per OEM
- Maintain and monitor main waste conveyor belt

**Starch Kitchen**
- Maintain and fully understand starch kitchen as per OEM

**Effluent Water Treatment**
- Maintain effluent pumps and Filter press as per OEM

**Non Potable Water Treatment**
- Maintain water treatment plant equipment as per OEM

**Forklift Fleet**
- Review Daily and Weekly Forklift Inspections
- Ensure Forklifts is serviced as per OEM intervals

**KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS**
- Ability to converse well in English
- Computer literate
- Must be able to work under pressure and be a problem solver
- Must be flexible and able to work extended hours as well as weekends (when required)

**REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE**
- Matric with Physical Science and Mathematics
- Minimum N3 or Engineering Diploma or Electrical Diploma
- Minimum 5 years working as Qualified Artisan FMCG Maintaining utilities.

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Faure, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
