The job of a Quality Control Manager is to ensure a safe, accurate and effective control of the quality of incoming and manufactured products, accordingly to specifications and defined quality standards.

**Responsibilities**:

- Accepts incoming materials, including customer returns, and releases semi-finished and finished products when conforming to the Specifications.In case of Non-Conformity decides whether to block the material or release it in derogation in collaboration with the Corporate R&D department.
- Tracking of all decisions in the Quality Control Application (QCA) system
- Accepts or requires changes of the Specification Projects issued by Corporate R&D, deeply evaluating the compliance with test methods, ranges, test frequency and other requirements from Corporate R&D.
- Following a deep review of results and production process variability (shared with Production), proposes Specification changes to Corporate R&D issuing a Specification Project in QCA.
- Supervises that all the tests performed follow Corporate Testing Methods or, in case of National-International Standards, with their last version of the document that must be available for consultation.
- Manage and maintain compliance to Quality Control activities with the Corporate and/or Local Procedures or Guidelines
- Share the pertinent knowledge and results with Corporate R&D and the Technical team, and also receive essential information regarding Raw Materials, Products and Testing methods from the Corporate departments
- Request technical training and information regarding Raw Materials, Products and Testing methods from Corporate R&D, as well as advise from Corporate R&D on special tests, activity of Quarantine recycling, cross contaminations and age tests.
- Describes the non-conformance and customer complaints results and actively participates to find the root cause. When needed, investigates with Technical Service and/or Product Managers, about customer complaints.
- Collaborates with the Production Department to decide on adjustments that must be made (previously agreed with Corporate R&D), sampling frequency, production sequences.
- Shares pertinent information regarding cross contamination, out of specification figures, releasing priorities, quarantine issues, recycling activity and tests made withProduction
- Engage in the Manufacturing Process Validation, participates with feasibility decisions, provides lab batch results and reports on tests results.
- Prepares all the documents and information for Internal and External Audits.
- Provide a quarterly report on issues making sure it is concise and exhaustive to the main Local and Corporate functions, reviewing results, describing problems, giving solutions and sharing best practice.
- Supervises the qualitative and quantitative adequacy of the headcount and competencies and supervises the workload of the staff supervised.
- Participates to the hiring process for recruiting the right resources, in agreement with Unit Manager and the Human Resources department
- In collaboration with the HR department, monitors absenteeism and other HR KPI’s and grants that contractual and internal regulations are properly applied.
- Ensure that all personnel are competent to carry out their tasks and are fully aware of the potential hazards in their workplace, and the preventive and protective control measures adopted by the Company.
- Ensure that workplace and plant inspections and risk assessments are carried out and inform the personnel of the risks associated with the activities they will undertake.
- Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all areas under supervision.
- Ensure that personal protective equipment is available in the units, that it is correctly used and countersigned when it is issued.
- Ensure a defect reporting procedure and corrective action closure system is implemented for the operation.
- Ensure all personnel receive necessary information on instructions and training, relevant to their duties. All training must be documented for future reference.
- Provide toolbox talks training for all personnel a minimum of once per week.
- Ensure that all incidents and injuries are reported as soon as possible, within the same shift and are investigated fully in accordance with Company procedures. Any deficiencies must be acted upon as soon as practicable.

**Qualification**:

- Tertiary qualification, NQF level 5 or higher in Quality Management/Chemical Engineering
- 5 years previous working experience in a manufacturing facility at a management level
