**Purpose of the Job**:
The purpose of the Hangar Assistant is to assist the aircraft maintenance team with setting up equipment for inspections, towing of aircraft and handling, as well as delivering equipment and spares to ensure continued operations. This role ensures that aircraft and facilities are kept in a neat and clean condition under the direction and supervision of senior personnel / maintenance engineers.
**Job Objectives**:
Provide general assistance to aircraft maintenance engineering teams during and after maintenance activities.
Clean, inspect and maintain shop tools and equipment in compliance with OEM and regulatory requirements.
Assist with ground movements of aircraft within and out of maintenance workshops.
Operation of manual and motorised aircraft ground handling equipment.
Assist with aircraft jacking and levelling procedures.
Assist with aircraft luggage.
Preparation of job sites for aircraft maintenance purposes.
Complete local pick-ups and inter-Port component and routine supplies deliveries.
Movement of Hazmat and fragile items as directed by senior personnel / maintenance engineers.
Ensure that support and ground equipment are cleaned.
Ensure that the hangar facility is ready at all time for internal and external audits.
Maintain high standards of safety by ensuring that all aircraft ground handling equipment is in safe functional condition.
Assist with loading and off-loading of hangar
Perform general assistant duties as assigned by the senior personnel / maintenance engineers.
Portray a professional image to enhance organisation brand reputation.
Ensure that the hangar facility is cleaned on a daily basis.
Ensure that all service stands are clean and free of FOD.
Ensure that all support vehicles are clean at all times.
Assist all engineers as and when required.
Ensure that special tool stores, quarantine stores, chemical stores, spares stores and all other storage areas are cleaned on a daily basis.
Ensure all hangar support equipment are stored in their designated areas and remain clean at all times.
**Qualifications**:
- Grade 12 - (desirable)
**Experience**:
- Valid driver license Code 8 - (essential)
- Experience in an aviation company in a similar role will be an added advantage
