**Job Advert Summary**:
**PURPOSE**: - To undertake geological activities in support of the Resident Geologist in regard to resource investigations, characterization and resource utilization (resource control and measurement).
**MAJOR CHALLENGES**: - Conduct and manage geological data gathering, capture, analysis and sound interpretations as to ensure resource integrity. - Conduct assessment/evaluations to fully optimise the value of the resource. - Implement and conduct sound grade control and reconciliation practices. - Facilitate and support the implementation of multi-disciplinary technologies (geophysical & geology) as to ensure maximum value.
**Minimum Requirements**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- BSc (Hons) Geology (Essential/Minimum)
- Management Development Programme (Essential/Minimum)
**EXPERIENCE**:
3-5 years Relevant Commodity Geology - mining and exploration experience (Essential/Minimum) Operational
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
- Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
- SA Council for Natural Scientific Prof (Essential/Minimum)
- Registered with Professional Body (Essential/Minimum)
**Duties & Responsibilities**:
**Best Practice and Knowledge Management**
- Facilitate the process of knowledge sharing between the various team members in Grade Control as to ensure accurate and effective data/information flow and use
- Participate in investigations of improvement opportunities. Participate in the evaluation of discipline-specific principles and practice
- Participate in the implementation of appropriate quality management systems to ensure delivery of high quality solutions for the geology team
**Budget Control**
- Support the Resident Geologist in financial control of activities as to stay within the approved budget
- Conduct assessments as to ensure that technology is effectively applied and utilized
- Report on anomalies which will influence the budget/expenditure to the Resident Geologist
- Ensure that contract management is correctly applied
**Business Performance and Operations**
- Conduct data management and data assurance in regard to all grade control geology activities including the assurance of the laboratories, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs and data and process validations
- Implementation, manage and maintain the grade control and reconciliation processes including geophysical measurements and geophysical program control
- Support the Resident Geologist performance excellence initiatives and high performance culture
- Ensure staff resources are efficiently deployed, trained and developed
- Ensure support, coaching and mentoring for all staff
- Support in the translation of discipline strategy into systems, structures/processes to support implementation
- Review, compile and implement with the Resident Geologist the grade control and reconciliation strategy
- Support the Resident Geologist in providing accurate and timely information of the resource and resource extraction (measurement) to the planning, mining and metallurgical teams in support of the short, medium
- and long-term plans
- Support the Resident Geologist in assuring the integrity of the resource by effectively managing the production and grade control processes and providing insight into the utilization of the resource
**Compliance, Governance and Assurance**
- Adhere to International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 9001 (Quality) in regard to accurate/correct data capture and the management of grade control procedures
- Support the Resident Geologist in the implementation of the Group’s mineral policies, procedures and standards
- Adhere to ISO 14001 in regard to the management of geophysical equipment and reporting to the various legislative authorities.
- Implement Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) controls for all job activities
- Recognise and manage risk by conducting continuous assessments and implementing control measures
**Consulting and Project Services**
- Conduct when requested technical evaluations/assessments of the resource
- Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams as part of optimizing the resource and reserve in the operation
- Provide accurate and timely information for the mining, metallurgical and planning disciplines
**Safe and Healthy Work Environment**
- Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable SHE policies and procedures in line with set standards
- Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations
