**Furniture Factory Production Manager**

**Overview**:
As a Furniture Factory Production Manager, this person will be responsible for overseeing the production process of manufacturing in the factory. This person will be tasked with ensuring that the production process is efficient and that the end product meets the required quality standards.
Responsible for managing a team of production staff (Cutters, gluers, polishers, upholsterers and quality control) and coordinating with other departments to ensure that production is running smoothly.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement production schedules to ensure that production targets are met.
- Oversee the production process to ensure that it is running efficiently.
- Manage a team of production workers, including hiring, training, and evaluating their performance.
- Work with other departments, such as procurement and logistics, to ensure that production runs smoothly and that there are no delays or issues.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that the end product meets the required standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and work with procurement to ensure that there are no shortages of raw materials.
- Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Ensure that health and safety regulations are followed in the factory.

**Requirements/Preferences**:

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in production management.
- At least 5 years of experience in furniture manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Knowledge of production management principles
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in a factory environment.
- Experience with production planning and scheduling software.
- Strong attention to detail.

**Additional Criteria**:

- Must be able to and willing to get hands dirty when needed although this is not part of the day to day purpose.
- Must be able and willing to work overtime as and when needed although this is always a last resort and should be avoided.
- Ability to lead people by example - Punctual, disciplined, strong organisational skills, heavy focus on quality and meeting deadlines.
- Good communication skills - This person will deal with suppliers and customers on an ad hoc basis but mostly will be doing purchase requisitions with the office manager for supplies and will be working with factory foreman, quality controllers, machine operators and department heads to stay in touch with all aspects of the factory and manage individual performance levels.
- Work experience in furniture or carpentry would be a big positive.
- As there is work on single bespoke items and medium size production run orders, the person must be adaptable to not only being able to work in an environment where production of the same products each and every day, but rather quickly adapts to and makes production changes as and when necessary.
- Must have managed a factory of at least 30 people but preferably higher where there were multiple departments reporting to this person and who was monitoring performance on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Pay: From R30,000.00 per month

**Experience**:

- Furniture making: 5 years (required)
- Factory management: 3 years (required)
- Production & scheduling software: 2 years (preferred)
