Engineering Technician

LEDwise Lighting is an expert designer and manufacturer of LED luminaires for the commercial, industrial and retail market sectors. We are looking for an Engineering Technician to assist our engineering and production departments with product testing and technical administration.

**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**:
The purpose of this role is to support engineering and production activities regarding testing and administration.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Product Testing:

- Perform new tests as instructed.
- Repeat similar test procedures for different product configurations.
- Basic product fault finding.
- Documentation of tests and investigations.

2. Communication:

- External communication with customers and suppliers regarding test reports, follow ups and updates.
- Internal communication with engineering, production and accounts to resolve any testing, repair and financial requests.
- Liaising with 3rd party testing labs regarding regular and ad hoc testing

3. Administration:

- Logging of service requests for testing.
- Scheduling of testing to ensure rapid feedback.
- Physical and electronic filing & organisation of test reports and data.
- Updating document registers with changes.

4. Other:

- Updating technical product information for sales use.

**REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum 2 years continuous working experience in a lab technician/product testing role.
- Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical engineering an advantage.
- Experience in the lighting/electrical sector an advantage
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, Excel).
- Excellent (English) communication skills on all levels.
- Willingness to learn.
- Process oriented.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Driver’s license essential

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Maitland, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
