Crematorium Operator

**Core Function**: The Crematorium Operator will be responsible for operating and

controlling all cremations and maintenance of the cremator.

**Control of furnaces and/or cremations**

**Control**
- Operate control correctly according to company policy and cremator instructions
- Check and record controls at regular intervals
- Check regularly for problems and report them immediately
- Adherence to Health & Safety legislation policies and procedures
- Adherence to Crematorium Regulations
- Adherence to AEL legislation policies and procedures

**Cremations**
- Operate control correctly according to company policy and cremator instructions
- Check cremation process regularly
- Rake when necessary
- ID metal nameplate must be on view during cremation process
- Remove all metal objects before placing remains in the cremulator
- Process cremated remains to fine ash
- Place cremated remains in ash container and label with correct name, certificate and metal tag

**Maintenance of cremators**
- Clean cremators of all remains
- Keep face of cremator clean
- Keep cremation room neat and tidy at all times (Maintenance schedule)

**Ad hoc duties**
- Dress in company uniform
- Report any damage/defects or missing equipment
- Perform ad hoc duties when and if so required

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
- Matric Certificate
- Valid Driver's License
- 1-year Funeral Industry Experience (Advantageous)
