- Reporting to General Manufacturing Supervisor- Purpose of Position:
- Lay out, fit and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as construction of furnaces, crushers, pulverisers, trolleys and any manufacturing according to drawings. Work involves using cutting torches. Tig, stick and mig welding. Have the ability to use any hand and power tools, ability to read and use all measuring equipment, be able to rig sling and use any lifting equipment to move or lift work piece he is busy with safely. Have the ability to read and work according to engineering drawings. Do surface preparation prior to welding and must be able to construct jigs with close tolerances. Be able to construct, assemble, maintain and repair any structural forms according to blue print or any verbal instruction. Carry out inspection on any work performed.- General Description:
- The key areas of responsibility include:
- Read and plan work according to drawings- Work out material needed to complete work piece- Cut material to specification and within the given tolerance according to the drawing- Bolt or arc weld structures and parts together, using wrenches and welding equipment- Examine work piece for detective welding, weak spots and repair all defects- Lay out material to be used for the construction of equipment, mark it out according to the drawing and tolerances specified on the drawing- Locate and mark all reference points for the various columns or plates, by using straight edges, squares and measuring equipment. Cut material to size by using guillotine, cutting torch or saws. Bend material with bending machines.- Position, align and secure structural parts and related assemblies of work pieces according to drawing.- Repair or replace any defective parts using cutting torches, and welding equipment- Work off all welded seams, joints and irregular edges of structural parts in order to attain specified fit of parts, using cutting torches, hammers, files and metal working machines and straighten or reshape metal pieces and parts.- Work according to drawing to determine locations, relationships, and dimensions of parts.- Assemble all parts together first by tick welding to make sure all parts are cut correct- Use overhead crane or any other lifting equipment to move parts together and in place to tick weld- Perform proper welding to work piece once all parts have been tick together and he made sure that they fit according to specifications- Clean off work piece once it is assembled together and after he made sure that the work was performed according to specs, by using wire brushes, grinding machines or and other cleaning equipment specified.- Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- 1. Repair and maintain all mechanical equipment.- 2. Handling and moving objects by using hands and arms in handling and installing positioning and moving material.- 3. Inspect equipment, structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or other defects.- 4. Perform activities that require the use of his arms and legs using the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking and stooping and the handling of materials.- 5. Observing, receiving, and obtaining information from the relevant sources to complete work piece.- 6. Monitor and review information from materials to detect or assess problems.- 7. Identifying information, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities and changes in events to complete work piece.- 8. Controlling machines and various processes-
**Inherent Requirements**
- Qualification:
- Minimum N3 level with necessary Red Seal as a Boilermaker.- Valid Code 08 or higher drivers licence- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant field.- Manufacturing of any equipment with the needed tools supplied according to drawings and specifications.- Do all work according to Quality Systems. Conduct necessary tests and inspections of the end product to evaluate the quality or performance.- Must be able to determine the cause of failure to equipment and to rectify it.- Determine the tools and equipment needed to complete a job. Knowledge- An understanding of manufacturing processes and some technical knowledge.- Manufacturing of any equipment with the needed tools supplied according to drawings and specifications.- Do all work according to Quality Systems. Conduct necessary tests and inspections of the end product to evaluate the quality or performance.- Must be able to determine the cause of failure to equipment and to rectify it.- Determine the tools and equipment needed to complete a job.- Skills and Abilities: Good communication skills.
