Infrastructure Handyman

GAAP Point of Sale is recruiting an Infrastructure Handyman. The position is based at our offices in Midrand and the successful applicant will be reporting to the Assistant Regional Infrastructure Manager: JHB & CPT or their nominees at GAAP where applicable.

**Job Summary**:
We are looking for a reliable Handyman to undertake upkeep and repair tasks at the interior or exterior of our company premises. We’ll rely on you to keep our facilities in perfect condition by doing various odd jobs. Deft hands and technical knowledge are important parts of a Handyman’s arsenal. You must be well-organized with strong general repair skills. A keen eye for detail and physical stamina are valued greatly in this job.

**Job Specification**
- Carry out skilled DIY & general maintenance work involved in all aspects of onsite building maintenance, both internal and external.
- Installation inspections, diagnosing faults, testing, replacement, repair and maintenance of building fixtures and fittings.
- General plumbing including washers, taps, unblocking toilets, unblocking stacks, installing new sinks, urinals and toilets, pipework (copper or PVC).
- General carpentry such as hanging doors, new locks, architraves, window frames, boxing in, assembling furniture, easing, and adjusting windows, replacing handles and similar hardware.
- General tiling - floors and walls.
- Flooring work, such as carpet tiles.
- General painting & decorating.
- Basic electrical maintenance.
- Identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices and health and safety.
- Carry out planned tasks in accordance with company requirements and within specified time limits.
- Ensure compliance to applicable codes, legislation and procedures including health and safety.
- Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work.
- Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to your Line Manager.
- Meet your targets and contribute to those of the team as a whole.
- Regular checks and assessments of both private and public areas, liaising with your Line Manager and other team members, performing jobs as and when they are required.
- Adhere to all organisation policies and procedures.

**Requirements**:

- Experience in this type of job role - Minimum 2 years.
- Requisite knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the environment.
- To demonstrate knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations applicable to this role.
- Skills in general DIY and maintenance including assessment, installation, repair and maintenance.
- To be friendly and approachable.
- To understand and deliver good customer service.
- Good attention to detail.
- Demonstrable time management and project management skills.
- **Please note that working hours for this position are from 08:00am - 17:00pm, Monday to Friday. From time to time, you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role. You will however be expected to work as and when necessary to meet the needs of the team and your targets.**_
