Duties/Pligte
- Onderrig en administrasie van algemene voorgraadse modules en van gespesialiseerde voor
- en nagraadse rekenaarstelsels modules;
- Toesighouding oor finale-jaar ingenieursprojekte en nagraadse (Meesters en PhD) studente in die velde van rekenaarstelsels;
- Uitvoering van fundamentele en/of toegepaste navorsing gefokus op toepaslike navorsingsareas binne rekenaarstelsel ingenieurswese;
- Samewerking met bestaande navorsingsvennote binne die Departement en die opbou van kontak met ander universiteite,

- en regeringsorganisasies om navorsing en ontwikkelingsprogramme in die rekenaarstelsel velde by die Universiteit Stellenbosch te bevorder;
- Uitvoering van ondersteunende, administratiewe en verteenwoordigende rolle binne en buite die Departement.
- Teaching and administration of general undergraduate modules and of specialised computer systems undergraduate and postgraduate modules;
- Supervising final year engineering projects and postgraduate (Masters and PhD) students in the field of computer systems;
- Performing basic and/or applied research focused on relevant research areas within computer systems engineering;
- Collaborating with existing research partners within the Department and building contacts with other universities,

***industry and government organisations to promote research and development programmes in the computer systems fields at Stellenbosch University;
- Performing supportive, administrative and representative roles within and outside the Department.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- 'n Toepaslike Baccalaureus-graad (BIng of BScIng) in Elektriese en Elektroniese Ingenieurswese,

***soos voorgeskryf deur die Ingenieursraad van Suid-Afrika (ECSA) ten einde te kwalifiseer vir registrasie as Professionele Ingenieur;
- 'n Toepaslike Meestersgraad (tipies MIng of MScIng) in Elektriese en Elektroniese Ingenieurswese aan 'n erkende akademiese universiteit;
- 'n PhD kwalifikasie of in 'n gevorderde stadium van PhD studie by 'n geakkrediteerde nasionale of internasionale tersiêre instelling op die gebied van toegewyde

rekenaarstelsels, of uitgebreide en bewese industrie-ervaring van minstens drie jaar in die velde van rekenaarstelsels;
- Die vermoë om duidelik te kommunikeer in minstens Engels;
- Die vermoë om kursusse en modules te doseer as deel van die tipiese voorgraadse ingenieurskurrikulum soos onder die pligte hierbo beskryf;
- Grondige kennis van en ervaring op die gebied van toegewyde rekenaarstelsels, insluitend mikroverwerkers, digitale logika en programmeerbare logika;
- 'n Sterk akademiese rekord;
- Goeie interpersoonlike en organisatoriese vaardighede;
- Bewys van 'n navorsingsrekord in die veld van rekenaarstelsels in internasionale eweknie-geëvalueerde tydskrifte, en/of konferensieverrigtinge of bewese industrie

ervaring in die veld van rekenaarstelsels.
- An applicable Bachelor's degree (BEng or BScEng) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, as required by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) to qualify for

registration as a Professional Engineer;
- An appropriate Master's degree (typically MEng or MScEng ) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from a recognised academic university;
- A PhD qualification, or a PhD in an advanced stage at an accredited national or international tertiary institution in the field of embedded computer systems,

***or extensive and proven industry experience of at least three years' in the field of computer systems;
- The ability to communicate clearly in at least English;
- The ability to teach courses and modules as part of the typical undergraduate engineering programme as described in the duties above;
- A solid knowledge of and experience in the field of computer systems, including microprocessors, digital logic and programmable logic;
- A strong academic track record;
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills;
- A proven publication record in the field of computer systems in international peer-reviewed journals, and/or conference proceedings or extensive and proven industry

experience in the field of computer systems.
