RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:

- Offering education programmes in the B.Ed. undergraduate, HCSS, PGCE, and honours programme focusing, but not limited to, IsiZulu Education, academic literacy and educational studies;
- Providing postgraduate supervision;
- Assisting with the assessment of WIL;
- Course and curriculum development;
- Teaching in a hybrid environment;
- Conducting research in the focus areas of the Department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- Master’s degree in IsiZulu Education or in IsiZulu with a clear educational focus;
- An acknowledged educational qualification;
- Experience in teaching IsiZulu at school level and/or higher education level;
- Evidence of the development of modules or programmes in IsiZulu;
- Formative and summative assessment experience;
- At least 1 publication in an accredited journal;

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

- Ability to engage in teaching and learning at a higher education level;
- Appropriate language and communication skills in IsiZulu and English;
- A thorough understanding of IsiZulu Education;
- Ability to initiate and supervise research at postgraduate level;
- Ability to work in a community of scholars;
- Ability to initiate a research project;
- Academic administration experience;
- Community engagement experience;
- Computer literacy;
- Value-based and value-driven person with the ability to set professional example to students.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

- PhD in Master’s degree in IsiZulu Education or in IsiZulu with a clear educational focus;
- Ability to coordinate or manage programme delivery;
- Evidence of research activeness over the past two years.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
