IT Junior Technicians to diagnose, repair and maintain hardware and software components to ensure the smooth running of computer systems. IT Technician responsibilities include installing and configuring computer hardware and being the primary point of contact for IT support within a company.
Junior IT Desktop Technician Duties:
- Build and install PCs, telephone systems, wired/wireless networks and peripheral devices (such as
printers, scanners, mobile/smart phones) related to desktop infrastructure, by department
standards.
- Make sure that the internet and phone is available/working at all times.
- Providing support to users and being the first point of contact for error reporting.
- Identify, log and resolve technical problems with
- Attending or responding to tickets on the ticketing system (Freshservice).
- Provides advice and guidance to colleagues regarding incidents.
- Installing and configuring hardware and software components to ensure usability.
- Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Upgrading/updating systems or computers to enable compatible software on all computers.
- Installing and upgrading/updating OS software to ensure security at the user level.
- Maintain installed PCs, networks, telephone systems and peripherals with routine maintenance.
- Ensure that work is carried out within agreed service levels and by department guidelines.

Service Level Agreement (SLA): Freshservice Ticketing System
- Urgent - These are critical issues e.g.; service is unavailable or unusable with no
workaround.
- High - These are high-impact products that don’t work as expected with no feasible
workaround.
- Medium - These are medium impact; the product is not working as expected but the
workaround is easily available.
- Low - These are low-impact issues, the product doesn’t work as desired, but functions (a
workaround is unnecessary.)
