Who are we?
Sanlam Developing Markets [SDM] (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited) is one of the top financial services providers in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. It aims to understand the unique requirements of clients and offers a wide range of simple and affordable financial solutions that cover needs such as funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover and personal accident plans. In terms of the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, which is part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group. The cluster focusses on retail porducts, as well as group schemes. What will you do?
Maintenance of financial controls to ensure the completeness & accuracy of transactions from the Policy Administration system (FAFA).
Preparation of month end journals.
Monthly reconciliations between the Policy Administration System (FAFA) and the General Ledger (SAP).
Preparation of Budget and Forecast of Filesize (policy count), third party benefits.
Preparation of Capitec scorecard and providing feedback to various stakeholders.
Preparation of statutory reports - Business Conduct Returns Report.
Liaising with various stakeholders on an on-going basis and providing them with value adding information.
Perform trend analysis and provide commentary on the income statement movement to assist with continuous improvement on controls and reporting.
Make recommendations for fixes required to the system and system data.
Processing of system fixes within the target dates.
Liaising with the auditors for internal and external audits.
Adhoc duties as directed by the manager. What will make you successful in this role?
Qualification & Experience
B.Com. Accounting (or similar degree or diploma with financial accounting as a major) is essential.
Preferable 2 years’ experience in a similar capacity within Finance
Experience in the financial industry will be advantageous
Knowledge and Skills
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is essential.
Proficiency in SAP is preferable.
